Amityvilla is place which is famous a lot .it is a village in the town of Babylon in Suffolk County, New York, in the United States. The population was 9,523 at the 2010 census.
The story of The Amityville Horror can be traced back to a real life murder case in Amityville in November 1974, when Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot all six members of his family at 112 Ocean Avenue. In December 1975 George and Kathy Lutz and Kathy's three children moved into the house, but left after twenty-eight days, claiming to have been terrorized by paranormal phenomena produced by the house. Jay Anson's novel is said to be based on these events but has been the subject of much controversy.
people say that that place is haunted and it also called the house of ghost
place near by the ocean house is :
- The Lauder Museum is located at the corner of Broadway and Ireland Place, just south of The Triangle. The historic building was built for the Bank of Amityville in 1909. The Amityville Historical Society opened the Lauder Museum in 1972.
- The Mike James Courts at Bolden Mack Park.
- The Amityville beach.
At around 6:30 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 1974, 23-year-old Ronald DeFeo, Jr entered Henry's Bar in Amityville, Long Island,New York and declared: "You got to help me! I think my mother and father are shot!" DeFeo and a small group of people went to 112 Ocean Avenue, which was located near the bar, and found that DeFeo's parents were indeed dead. One of the group, Joe Yeswit, made an emergency call to the Suffolk County Police, who searched the house and found that six members of the same family were dead in their beds.
The victims were Ronald DeFeo, Sr. , Louise DeFeo , and four of their children: Dawn ; Allison ; Marc ; and John Matthew . All of the victims had been shot with a .35 caliber lever action Marlin 336C rifle at around three o'clock in the morning of that day. DeFeo's parents had both been shot twice, while the children had all been killed with single shots. Physical evidence suggests that Louise DeFeo and her daughter Allison were both awake at the time of their deaths and, according to Suffolk County Police, the victims were all found lying on their stomachs in bed. The DeFeo family had occupied 112 Ocean Avenue since purchasing it in 1965. The murdered members of the DeFeo family are buried in nearby Saint Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
after that police arrested Ronald DeFeo and case where filed on him police was in a shock after looking the death body of the whole family it was so scary police started there investigation but they did not found anything which may help Ronald DeFeo for his crime .
DeFeo's trial began on October 14, 1975. He and his defense lawyer William Weber mounted an affirmative defense of insanity, with DeFeo claiming that he killed his family in self-defense because he heard their voices plotting against him. The insanity plea was supported by the psychiatrist for the defense, Dr. Daniel Schwartz. The psychiatrist for the prosecution, Dr. Harold Zolan, maintained that although DeFeo was an abuser of heroin and LSD, he had antisocial personality disorder and was aware of his actions at the time of the crime. On November 21, 1975,
DeFeo was found guilty on six counts of second-degree murder. On December 4, 1975, Judge Thomas Stark sentenced Ronald DeFeo, Jr. to six concurrent sentences of 25 years to life
that case is proven as a self defense case and but is was not a reality. it is heard by people that some strange is happen to that night .it could be superstitious power which made Ronald DeFeo to killed his family and that time he was not in a sense. later that place is called hunted .
